- Official name: Republic of Lebanon.
- Capital: Beirut.
- Area: 10 452 km².
- Population: 6.2 million (2016 figures).

- Ethnic mix: Arab 95%, Armenian 4%, Kurdish, Turkish, Greek. Some 12% of the population is Palestinian. It is worth noting that there are strong Lebanese communities around the globe, including around 14 million people of Lebanese origin.

- Religion: There are 18 religious official communities in Lebanon, mostly a vibrant mosaic of Muslim and Christian sects.

-Climate: Owing to a very varied topography, the climate varies noticeably between different regions. In general, Lebanon can be divided into three climatic zones: a mild-weathered coastal strip with higher humidity, refreshing mountains, and dry yet fertile Beqaa valley.

-Currency: Most banks will change dollars, euros and British pounds, as well as travellers’ cheques, into local currency (Lebanese Pound). Small exchange offices that have even better rates than the bank can be found everywhere in the country and accept virtually all currencies.

- Language: Arabic is the official language of Lebanon. French enjoys a special status as a language of education and culture, while English is considered the business language. Both are very widely spoken across the country. You will find many Armenian speakers as well.

- Main economic sectors: Agriculture, construction, tourism.

- Unesco World Heritage sites: Anjar, Baalbek, Byblos, Tyre, Qadisha Valley, Cedars Forest.
